The Budda’s Hiatus

a tumult of aggression blooms in the hollow
space in the back of my neck.

little knobby shadows
protrude from the ceiling.

the arena vibrates,
the plastic Buddha falls from out

my grasp. his fat stomach cracks
on the granite beneath.

the web-spun baskets
empty themselves of tangerine confetti.
