Tongue Tied- Miley Cyrus

Alright, I never write reviews, but I couldn’t resist with this one.

“Tongue Tied,” a bondage-themed video starring Miley Cyrus, will not screen at the NYC Porn Festival.

“Miley was proud to make a film with acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Jones,” a representative for Cyrus said in a statement to HuffPost Entertainment. “Neither she nor Quentin are participating in this ‘festival’ in any way.” – Huffington Post

I see a lot of criticism buzzing around social media that Miley did this video.

First, let me say that I’ve never been a Miley Cyrus fan. (Except for her back yard sessions. Lilac Wine… right in the feels.) Video:

This is what gets me: I think that a lot of young artists today have a LOT of pressure to be “the next big thing.”

Let’s take Lady Gaga for example. Sure, she’s annoying to a lot of people. BUT, she gets a reaction- whether good or bad. She is SO outrageous. I feel that up-and-coming artists are compared to THAT. They have this notion that they have to be outrageous and bizarre to capture their audience. Which isn’t necessarily their fault.

The media affects us all- women are told to be model thin, push their tits up to their chin, twerk for Christ’s sake… You don’t think media affects celebrities? You don’t think that celebrities are pushed to their limits, to mental break downs?

Celebrities like Miley Cyrus are human. They are being publicly contorted in all sorts of insane directions. It’s like high school all over again, but globally. I definitely remember doing all sorts of weird shit just so I could be “popular.”

I’m not a fan of Miley Cyrus myself HOWEVER this video is really awesome to me, artistically. Hopefully, she’ll release something again like Lilac Wine again. The girl has got talent.

PS- I fucking love the song in the video

I saw a post the other day that was supposed to be defining how a ‘class woman’ looks.. Honestly, I don’t let the crap in the media bother me usually but it pissed me of beyond anything else. I don’t think I should have to look like Audrey fucking Hepburn to be considered ‘classy’.. I also absolutely hate the fact that girls are more concerned with ‘thigh gaps’ and dieting than they are enjoying themselves the way they are. It’s not fair how the media controls the way women see themselves. It’s most certainly not healthy. So yes, I agree. Us everyday people are affected by the media in the most sickening way.. So I couldn’t imagine being a celebrity… They are under a damn microscope ALL the time. “Be awesomely famous, let us be in your business all the time, never be by yourself, ever, oh and don’t do drugs or drink to deal with the awful parts of being a celebrity that most people won’t know about because they aren’t famous”.. It’s sickening.
